MARIETTA – The National Federation of Independent Businesses of Ohio has endorsed Andy Thompson for State Representative for the 95th House district. NFIB recognizes Rep. Andy Thompson’s proven leadership in facilitating legislation that supports job growth and small business development. Representative Thompson knows the impact that small businesses have on our economy and is committed to continuing to work for limited government regulation and lower taxes for emerging new businesses.
“Small businesses are the traditional job creators in our state and nation. The more than 25,000 NFIB members across Ohio participate in a member driven process to identify those candidates who believe in the free enterprise system and support our members ability to own, operate and grow their businesses,” said Vice President/Executive Director of NFIB/Ohio Roger R. Geiger.
Geiger went on to say “Our members continue to engage in the electoral process because they recognize just how important the policy decisions made by legislators in the Ohio statehouse are to the future of our state. We’re excited about the slate of additional candidates we’re endorsing throughout Ohio. Through their answers to our candidate questionnaire and interviews with our members, we know they have an understanding of what it will take to maintain and continue our state’s economic comeback through business growth and job creation.”
Rep. Thompson is seeking his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 95th District, which includes Carroll, Harrison and Noble counties, as well as portions of Washington and Belmont counties.
After graduating from Central College in 1985 Thompson spent four years working for the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He returned home to Marietta to raise his family and work at the family business. That business, Bird Watcher’s Digest, was started by his parents during tough economic times, and has continued to grow. Thompson now serves as the magazine’s co-publisher and Director of Sales. He was also elected to three terms on the Marietta City Council.
Thompson is a member of the NRA and is also very active in his Rotary Club and church. His wife, Jade, is a Spanish teacher at Marietta High School. The couple has three children: Annalea, Nat and Gus.
